Communications
Mobile phone coverage is surprisingly good for those on "roaming"
in Macedonia. You may wish to buy a local SIM card to cut down on call
charges during your trip. Internet cafes are numerous in Macedonia
and it is the only European country to be covered entirely by wireless
service.
Money Matters
The Macedonian
currency is the Denar. You may easily exchange USD, Euro and GBP at
local banks. Travellers cheques can also be exchanged at the local
Weston Union branch. Most businesses accept credit cards- and the
number is growing.
ATMs exist all over Macedonia. With your "pin" number
you can withdraw local currency using Mastercard or Visa Credit
Cards, and Maestro or Cirrus Debit Cards.
Personal Security
Tourists to the
region usually enjoy their stays without any significant problem.
The regional problems of the 1990s are now a distant memory and
crime levels are low compared to western countries. Normal precautions
should be taken to safeguard your property.

Photo film and most holiday essentials are widely available in Macedonia.
You may however want to pack the following essentials:

* Hat
* High factor sunblock and lipsalve
* Warm clothing for winter nights

European Union do not require visas for Macedonia. On your aircraft

the same when leaving when you will fill in departure form at the

date of arrival
Insurance
It is strongly
recommeded that you take out adequate travel insurance for the duration
